Stainless & glass balustrade install to household garden
Customer: Mr & Mrs Shaw, Newsome, Huddersfield
Mr & Mrs Shaw wanted to brighten up and modernise their garden area. Their initial thoughts were to replace an unstable dwarf wall and pair of dated iron gates that led to a to a garden area.
The customer contacted a local builder and discussed their requirements and ideas. At this point the builder mentioned he had recently seen a completed project of a similar specification and made suggestions as to what he would recommend. He contacted the customers of this project and learned that the materials were supplied by Global Walkway Solutions and that the customer was more than happy to recommend us.
We met with Mr & Mrs Shaw and the builder to discuss the project, based on their requirements, we put forward some ideas utilising our architectural stainless range and offered various options. We offered the choice of with or without tube top rail and tube diameter 42.4mm or 48.3mm to use on the project.
Through this consultation process it was decided that we would use 42.4mm architectural stainless in grade 316 (outdoor use) and a glass balustrading system with stainless tube/top rail along the main run/wall area. In addition to this we would also fabricate a pair of bespoke stainless & glass gates that would match and compliment the main run.
We took all necessary measurements and calculated the required materials. We then submitted the quotation to Mr & Mrs Shaw which was shortly agreed upon, after which we implemented an agreed plan of action..
Firstly their builder would remove the old gates, take the wall down to floor level and prepare the area to accommodate upright posts prior to our installation. Meanwhile we would issue materials and begin workshop fabrication for upright posts, gates and all other necessary components.
Swiftly following the preparation work, our team commenced with installation of the upright posts, gate sets and tube/handrailing. Once these were in place we could get the exact sizes required for the glass infill panels, the glass could now be ordered for manufacture.
Just over a week later, once the glass was manufactured, the installation team returned to site to fit the glass using glass clamps and complete the installation.
Mr & Mrs Shaw were delighted with the end result and have commented that the bespoke gates we built have turned out better than they could ever have envisaged.
